The majority of us have to work in order to survive, however, the thing about working is that it isn’t always something that we want to do or that we enjoy doing either. This is where the work/life balance comes into play. The idea is that you focus equally on your working life as you do your personal life, making sure that both are in balance, and, if you can achieve this then you are getting everything right.
But the trouble is, a work/life balance isn’t easy to achieve. In fact, some people can go through their entire working life never quite reaching that goal.

Always prepare for the week ahead
You can never achieve a balance unless you have a good idea on what you are going to need to face. Take the time at the beginning of the week to think about all the things that you need to get done both at work and at home. That way you will know roughly how much time you need to spend on both and you can split it down the best that you can.
Keep work and home separate
It might sound easy, but one thing that can be really hard to do is to keep your work and your life as separate as you can. Sometimes one can seep into the other, but this should never become a regular occurrence. Try not to talk about work at home and if you have problems at home, leave them there.
Learn to say no
Saying no to your boss, or even to your family isn’t easy to do. However, sometimes the only thing that you can do to achieve that work/life balance is say no. It could be working overtime when you have plans with your family or it could be saying no to going on holiday or taking time off work when you know that you will be busy. It isn’t easy to do, but this can be a huge part of achieving a work/life balance.
